Good Things WHAT THAT ARE GOOD

:DDD

THING 1:

CAB/HUSHIES TOUR IN AUGUST WOOT WOOT! Can't stop me, no you can't! It's even two days after I get back from my conference!

THING 2:

Bandom BigBang summaries! eeeeeeee! *runs in circles* EVERY SINGLE MCR FIC IS GIVING ME *GRABBY HANDS* Also, I'm a little surprised there isn't as many FOB stories, and so many PATD ones, but maybe I just haven't been around enough to notice fic trends.

THING 3:

SCHOOL DONE, BITCHES!

Apr. 26th, 2008

1) No, seriously you guys. When does BandomBigBang post? And is that why I have no new fic (that I'm willing to risk, I shoud disclaim)? I know that the last thing I'm supposed to be doing is reading fic, but I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. My life, SO HARD.

2) No really, my life is so hard. I've totally been co-opted to go to Florida the morning of the day that Metro Station/The Cab shenanigans happen in San Antonio. *sad*

3) And as much as I think I'd like to go, there will be no The Used for me. Unless I miraculously end up with 10 pages of well-written paper by tomorrow afternoon. We'll just call that one *unlikely*.

revisiting 1) Really, guys. I should not be resorting to sketchy Snape/Granger rec lists to give my brain a break here.

DANGER DANGER

I'm plugged into Metro Station while we have some down time in our lab class, and I listened to Kelsy and was all "awwwww, KITTY", and then True To Me came on and I heard She shoots it in / And I keep taking, and flashed on this commentary, and about DIED in the middle of class. \o/

Fandom: causing inappropriate noises in academic settings since a really long time ago! \o/

Here, have some think-y thoughts

while I'm supposed to be writing exam questions, let me tell you my think-y thoughts re: LJ, asshattery, and proportional response.

The crux of the matter is investment. )

And my last random thought: Someone in one of the discussions I did manage to read mentioned looking into the creation of not one centralized LJ clone, but into everyone making LOTS of little LJ-esque clones, and then improving the OpenID/other account recognition something and syndication and then you still have the community function, but with friends on many different sites, and no one site has to bear the entire brunt (a la JournalFen), but everyone can pick the one they like best/is run by their friends/caters to their fandom-du-jour, and live in perfect harmony, frolicking among the flowers with fluffy bunnies and rainbows as far as the eye can see. And this is where I put on my Extra-Big-Nerd hat, and say that if everyone does their code-creation Open Source, all the sites can benefit from each others innovations and THERE IS EVEN MORE FROLICKING AMONG THE RAINBOWS. Of course, these things require people with time and money and programming abilities, but I think it could happen. Maybe in conjunction with OTW? Something.

Which, ahaha, I'm glad I checked Ye Olde Flist before posting, as there are a few folks talking about just that. here at synecdochic's journal, and over at [info]elsejournal. Check that shit out.

SXSW is pretty much a big deal

Sometimes, I think it would be really amazing to not have to have a life outside of seeing live music. omfg.

The Hush Sound on Friday evening/Early Saturday morning )

Ore Ska Band on Saturday afternoon )

The Rocket Summer on Saturday afternoon )

Cue break for food and bathroom. I got to talk to Lindsey as we wolfed down some food and rested our feet for a bit. (ps. if anyone wants to point her in my direction, I have the pictures she took on my camera, if she wants them.)

The Cab on Saturday evening )

The Hush Sound on Saturday evening )

Phantom Planet on Saturday evening )

p.s. [info]arielchan, [info]irish_cocktail? I think I have your Hush Sound posters on my floor. FYI, if you want to arrange to come get them sometime, or something. Or I can just bring them to the next concert. Whatever.
